A Warning

OK - learn from our mistake! We bought our beautiful Christmas tree yesterday and put it in the living room in the evening. Realizing that our tree was drinking an abnormally large amount of water, George thought aloud, "If I didn't know better, I'd say there was a leak in our tree stand." After tilting it ever so slightly and stuffing my hand under, we discovered there was indeed a leak! Our neighbors must think we're crazy - taking a half-decorated tree out of our front door into the garage to await a new stand. Especially after the Christmas Eve 6 years ago when our tree fell down literally 20 minutes after our last guest left from the family get-together. Another tree dragged out the front door and, in that case, thrown by the side of the house! Needless to say, we have learned our lesson and are planning to water-test the stand before putting the tree in every year!
