Swine Flu - The Grinch Who Stole Halloween

I don't have any adorable pictures of Ariel and Yoda as of yet, due to Halloween being postponed in the Gardipee hale. The swine flu paid a visit, and although the kids had their vaccine the week before, just not in time! Kealan came down with it the day after Pumpkin Hunting, so we have our pumpkins, they're just not carved yet! A blast was had at the farm, and this time G was able to join us at this particular one. It's Kealan's favorite and it's geared toward kids with it's user-friendly patches, "petting" zoo, storybook displays, play boats, and other various hide-outs.

Budster and Sissy, trolling for the perfect pumpkins

Kealan isn't completely convinced that her ancestors lived in these. Time for PowWow to see the real thing!

The highlight was the boats for both T and K. One was a speed boat, the other a pirate ship.

Kealan tends to get annoyed when you take her attention from the task at hand!

Here she's telling me that she can't look at the camera, she's driving. Hmm, wonder where she heard that?
The next day she was down with what turned out to be H1N1. Two days later George and I were hit, and the day after that it was Tiernan who was the victim. And I chose the word "victim" intentionally! Even though the vaccines didn't have a chance to become fully effective, they worked somewhat because Kealan had it the least severe out of all of us. G and I hadn't had the vaccine yet, and it hit hard. Tiernan, though he did have the vaccine, was hit the hardest (due to his neutrapenia) and the morning he came down with it, we called 911 because he wasn't breathing well. He developed pneumonia instantly, and was admitted to Children's Hospital for 3 days. He was quite miserable, getting poked and prodded, and was administered quite a cocktail of meds: nebulizer treatments, 2 antibiotics, Tamiflu, GCSF (Neutrapenia med), many blood draws, an x-ray, a flu test (not pleasant) and and IV. Needless to say, Tiernan and I didn't have a very fun Halloween, but G and Kealan tried to make the best of it. She got dressed up and Trick-or-Treated George while he was on the other side of a closet door - 7 times! We decided to postpone Halloween until this weekend, when I'll give candy to my neighbors and my kids will T-o-T as if nothing has happened. At least that's the plan! Hopefully we'll have some pictures up soon of Halloween 2.0!
