Seattle Aquarium

Kealan had a day off of school, so we headed to the aquarium with my Mom and Dad. The first stop was Ivar's for lunch. The seagulls made for perfect lunch entertainment, until it came time to hand feed them our left-overs. The kids wouldn't even set foot outside, so Dad and I took it upon ourselves to feed the poor, neglected, starving gulls! ;)
The kids' vantage point

This was the first time Tiernan was able to walk (or should I say dart) around the aquarium out of the confines of his stroller-prison. Now that he's been officially cleared of the Neutropenia, there are a lot of new experiences out there for him! For instance, last month he went nuts at Jump Planet for the first time since he was diagnosed. The kids spent most of their time in the interactive room where there are buttons to push and orca fins to play on. We were there to see feeding time with Diver Dan in the Dome, where we learned of a popular video on You Tube that was filmed at the aquarium. They no longer house the giant octopus in the Dome due to the mysterious disappearances of many sharks. They didn't know how the sharks were dying until a staff member stayed one night to catch it on video. Just search "giant octopus eats shark" and you'll see the footage! We also visited in time to see the female octopus before they released her the next day in the hopes that she would lay her eggs under the aquarium (she and the resident male had just successfully mated). So exciting!

Marveling at the Jellies

T wouldn't have his picture taken without Sissy!

T popped up just as I took the picture

We literally couldn't get T to stay still for anything during this outing!

My favorite coral - purple and green

K's favorite coral because it looks like flower

My favorite ever since I was little - the sea otter
