On October 28th at Kealan's annual visit with her Orthopedic Surgeon, we got the go-ahead for the surgery for which we've been waiting a few years. It was scheduled right away and we were sent to PT at Children's to prepare for a walker and a non-weight-bearing cast for 6 weeks, and a walking cast for 2 more. She was crazy-excited to practice with the walker and couldn't wait for hers to be delivered. Though I was filled with anxiety, I was also so excited at the prospect of the possibility of her walking without pain one day!

After much planning, we headed to Children's on Tuesday morning. Her main concern was that she would get a popsicle as promised! Her surgery went well, and when she woke up she got her much-anticipated treat!
We knew she would be staying for at least one night (and I with her), though in the morning on our second day her pain got out of control and that bought us another night. Together we were a great team - we became pros at the bedpan and watched an epic amount of tv! The doctor performed an unexpected procedure during her operation, and that required a knee immobilizer. This threw a major wrench into my meticulously planned rehab. It was near impossible for her to use the walker with out falling (which she actually did a few times). We'll see how she does when she recovers a little!
