Look, Mom - No Tonsils!

Well, we're home from the hospital from T's adenoid and tonsil removal. My little man is quite a trooper, or "Sir Brave-A-Lot" as my sister, Joelle, and her family referred to him. We went into Children's on Tuesday and his surgery went very well. Instead of caring for him on the regular floor, they put him in the ICU due to his severe sleep apnea so they could monitor him much closer and have the resources immediately available if required. Fortunately, they weren't! Though he slept most of Tuesday, no more visits to the Land of Nod were in store for Mr. T. He stayed awake ALL NIGHT and then ALL Day on Wednesday and we couldn't get him to sleep on Wednesday night at home until about 9 PM. So he ended up going over 24 hrs. without a wink! G and I think it's a reaction to his pain meds which contain codeine. As soon as the codeine wore off and we gave him regular Tylenol, he fell asleep no problem. Now keeping him asleep was a different issue! He managed to charm all of the nurses, who in turn were taken by him, partly by the fact that they had a chance to care for a baby who wasn't critically ill. Most of their patients don't respond to them much because of how ill they are, and T was his usual (if much grumpier) self. Jeanne stayed home with Kealan (Thanks, Jeanne!) and learned her new moniker: Thomas O'Malley. K has renamed us all once again, this time to coordinate with The Aristocats. She is Marie (big shocker), I am Duchess (can't complain there), G is Berlioz, and T is Toulouse.

Getting Ready

The day after surgery + first meal = a happy Tiernan

We celebrated Christmas with G's mom, Jeanne, and Jay the first weekend in January and had a great time! They has warned us that the kids weren't getting toys from them this year, but I really didn't expect Kealan's response. She opened her first gift of clothes and moved to the second. When she found clothes there as well, she simply stated, "I don't want more clothes." She doesn't realize how spoiled she really is!

We were finally able to see Kea's Preschool Christmas Program last week! Third time's a charm (due to the snow). She did an amazing job! Despite telling us as we were driving there that she didn't want to speak into the microphone, she said, "My Name is Kea. Happy New Year from the Farm Room." perfectly. Afterwards we celebrated with the traditional winter treat - Milk Shakes!
Action Photo of her lines!

This was when she was walking down the aisle to the stage. Doesn't she look thrilled?
